Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between an osteopath and a physiotherapist?
Both professions aim to improve mobility and relieve pain, but their approaches differ. Physiotherapy often relies on exercises, equipment and rehabilitation targeted at a specific area. Osteopathy takes a more global view of the body: through gentle manual manipulation, it looks for the root causes of an imbalance, sometimes far from the painful area, to restore mobility across tissues, joints and organs. Trained in both disciplines, Enzo His combines these complementary approaches based on your needs.
What conditions can an osteopath help with?
Osteopathy can bring relief for a wide range of situations: back and neck pain, muscle tension, migraines and headaches, digestive troubles, after-effects of accidents or falls, pregnancy-related discomfort, sleep issues and stress management, as well as follow-up care for infants after birth. Every treatment begins with a full assessment to determine whether osteopathy is appropriate for your situation.
Are treatments covered by insurance?
Osteopathy is not covered by the RAMQ (Quebec's public health plan). However, many private insurance plans (individual or group) reimburse all or part of osteopathic treatments. We recommend checking your coverage directly with your insurer before your appointment. An official receipt is provided after each session to support your reimbursement claim.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Wear comfortable, stretchy clothing that allows a good range of motion, similar to what you'd wear to exercise. Depending on the area being treated, you may be asked to remove certain items of clothing; a towel or sheet is always provided to preserve your comfort and privacy.
What can I expect at my first session?
Your first session lasts about 60 minutes. It begins with a thorough discussion of your medical history and symptoms, followed by a postural and physical examination. Hands-on treatment is then tailored to what this assessment reveals. You'll leave with concrete advice and, if needed, a few simple exercises to add to your routine.
Is osteopathy safe for babies?
Yes. The techniques used with infants are extremely gentle, involve no forced manipulation, and are adapted to their particular physiology. They can help with feeding or latching difficulties, sleep issues, asymmetrical head positioning, or discomfort following birth. Specialized training in pediatric osteopathy underpins every baby follow-up offered at the clinic.
